Working with families affected by autism and behavior problems since 2007 by providing resources that empower parents to advocate for their child and develop a sense of self-efficacy.
For the past fourteen years, Autismo Beta has dedicated its practice to empowering caregivers with evidence-based tools, to help and understand their young child early in life. These tools have been tested in research and have demonstrated to be the most effective for whatever the presenting problem may be. Some of the challenges that young children present and AB help parents understand and manage are: challenging behaviors, social communication delays, learning new skills, and navigating daily activities. Parents learn strategies that, not only are effective in improving their young child’s skills, but also are good parenting practices.
Evidence-based tools to help with different challenges.
Challenging Behaviors-
Parents often complain about their child’s tantrums and non-compliance. Through a combination of Parent-Child Interaction Therapy and RUBI, together we apply the tools that best work for your family.
Social Communication delays-
As early as 18 months, parents begin to notice delays in their child’s communication. These delays make it hard to engage with their young toddler and find a connection. AB uses a combination of evidence-based methods like ESDM and Project IMPACT; two practice models that combine developmental theories and behavioral practices. These are known as Naturalistic Developmental Behavioral Interventions (NDBI). The combination of behavioral and developmental methods, help to enhance the child’s motivation, engagement and learning. Parents can embed them into activities that are fun for the child and the family as a whole.
learning new skills and following a routine -
Sometimes the lack of understanding of what’s expected, can make a toddler feel overwhelmed and insecure, which can cause non-compliance and behavioral outbursts. Parents will learn the most effective techniques to ‘set-up their homes for success’ and teach new adaptive skills to their child. By creating daily routines and implementing structure, parents will add an element of predictability in their child’s daily schedule that will help them feel calmer and secure.
Our Mission
AutismoBeta seeks to further the growing advocacy and knowledge about autism spectrum disorder from diagnosis to early intervention to lifelong progress.
Services
Private Consultation Services Understanding the core symptoms in autism is a key element to understanding your child. AB will provide consultation starting with answering any questions regarding diagnosis, to providing best resources to further educate yourself. We will work together to individualize your needs to fit the treatment. It is preferable that the family is already working with a therapist. If the child is not receiving any therapies, AB will recommend best services in the area.
Online Therapy and Training With online therapy, there is no commute time, and you will find it comforting to meet from your home. Home is the place where you and your child spend the most time and we will create opportunities to teach skills in a naturalistic way. We will first meet for an intake consultation to understand your main concerns and to see which approach is the best. Once we agree to work together, a regular weekly time to “meet” will be set-up. AB uses a HIPAA compliant virtual platform that will help keep sessions confidential. Online sessions will combine a lesson introduction (parent only) and a coaching session (parent and child). All parents need is a quiet comfortable space, internet connection and a tablet, computer or smart phone to engage with therapist.
